Carmelina's in Boston's North End to Move from Hanover Street to Salem Street

A restaurant in Boston's North End that first opened five years ago is getting ready to move.

According to a source, Carmelina's has applied for a beer and wine license to operate in a new space on Salem Street, with this information seeming to jibe with an earlier Universal Hub article that said the owner has been planning to leave his current space on Hanover Street for a larger space on Salem Street. The City of Boston will hold a hearing on the request on April 26.

In early 2012, Carmelina's replaced a small plates spot under the same ownership called Ristorante Damiano; its replacement focuses more on classic Italian, Sicilian, and Mediterranean fare, including such items as fried calamari, spaghetti with littleneck clams, gnocchi al forno, pan-roasted chicken, and filet mignon.

The current address for Carmelina's is 307 Hanover Street, while its future address is 124 Salem Street. Its website can be found at http://www.carmelinasboston.com/
